FAU Jumps in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 List of Top Universities
õ made considerable gains in the U.S. News & World Report list of “Top Public Schools,” moving up to No. 103 from No. 112 in this year’s ranking of the nation’s best universities.

U.S. News & World Report also ranked FAU at No. 189 for “Top National Schools,” moving up 20 spots from No. 209 last year.
“õ Atlantic’s rise in the rankings reflects the extraordinary efforts of our entire University community,” said FAU President Stacy Volnick. “The culture of excellence fueled by our dedicated faculty and staff is driving new achievements on a national scale, and we are proud to be recognized as a leader in student success.”
FAU also moved up 20 spots to No. 146 this year compared to No. 166 last year in the “Best Value” category. The university remained in the Top 40 in the “Social Mobility” category, at No. 32. This ranking is computed using graduation rates of first-generation students and those who receive Pell grants, and includes public and private national universities. This remains one of FAU’s highest individual rankings.
In other rankings, FAU moved up to No. 130 from No. 133 last year in the U.S. News & World Report list of undergraduate nursing BSN programs. Undergraduate computer science is now No. 193, up from No. 210 one year ago. Its undergraduate business programs also moved up to No. 147 from No. 159 last year, while undergraduate psychology is now No. 229 compared to No. 234 last year. Undergraduate economics stayed the same at No. 240.
