FAU Harbor Branch to Unveil New Ocean Technology Exhibit
“Sight, Sound and Dynamics in the Sea: The Role of Technology in Ocean Exploration” is the first in a series of exhibits featured under HBOI’s “Mission: Ocean Discovery” program.
On a clear night, the naked eye can see stars that are millions of light-years from Earth. But even under the best conditions, we can see less than 200 feet into the ocean. Oceanographic technology plays an integral role in opening up worlds that would otherwise remain unknown to us. FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (HBOI) will unveil its first rotating exhibit to feature the tools HBOI scientists and engineers use to explore the ocean on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. in the new gallery at the Ocean Discovery Visitor’s Center, 5600 US 1 North, Fort Pierce.
“Sight, Sound and Dynamics in the Sea: The Role of Technology in Ocean Exploration” is the first in a series of exhibits featured under HBOI’s “Mission: Ocean Discovery” program. The exhibit presents a view into the innovative technology being developed at HBOI, where researchers are making groundbreaking discoveries every day.
“Our scientists and engineers are some of the best in the world in the field of ocean technology, engineering and exploration,” said Megan Davis, Ph.D., HBOI interim executive director. “This exhibit provides a rare up-close look at the devices that allow them to create their own underwater laboratories and effectively conduct their research.”
The exhibit will remain open to the public during regular Ocean Discovery Visitor’s Center hours through August.
