Teresa “Terry” Fedele, a nurse and retired hospital executive who has served as a member of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing’s Advisory Board since 2013, will now serve as chair of the board.

“We are thrilled that Terry Fedele will lead the College Advisory Board. Her experience in nursing leadership and hospital administration, dedication to our community and Caring Heart’s Auxiliary make her an outstanding ambassador and advisor for the College,” said Marlaine Smith, Ph.D., dean of the College of Nursing. “We also thank our outgoing board chair, Maurice Plough, Jr., for his tireless efforts over the past year, and look forward to building on the Board’s accomplishments in 2016-2017.”

Formed in 2012, the advisory board is tasked with supporting the College by leading advocacy and fundraising efforts. Recently, the board assisted in the launch of the College’s Lamplighter scholarship program, which provided half of the College’s 2015-2016 freshman class with $500 scholarships to defray the expenses of their nursing education.

“I am honored and excited to serve as chair of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing Advisory Board,” said Fedele. “It is a privilege to advance the outstanding work of our internationally-recognized College, which is transforming healthcare through caring and preparing the next generation of nursing leaders.” Terry Fedele

Fedele has more than 30 years of experience in leadership and service in healthcare, beginning with her career as a registered nurse and hospital administrator at some of Pittsburgh’s leading hospitals, including Magee Women’s Hospital, Divine Providence Hospital and Suburban General Hospital, where she served as executive vice president of hospital operations. In this role, she oversaw clinical patient care, quality, and the design and implementation of creative recruitment and retention strategies.  Fedele also taught as a nursing leadership instructor at The Pennsylvania State University.

Since moving to South õ, Fedele became very involved with FAU and in the community. She has worked extensively with the Caring Hearts Auxiliary of FAU’s Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center by planning fundraisers and serving on the auxiliary board since 2011 and as chair since 2013. She is also an ex-officio member of the FAU Foundation Board of Directors. In addition to her work with FAU, Fedele has served in numerous board, committee and leadership roles for local charitable organizations, including the Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, the American Heart Association, the Boca Raton Children’s Museum, the American Cancer Society and the George Snow Foundation.

Fedele earned a Master of Nursing Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Public Management degree with honors from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh. She is married to Jerry Fedele, her husband of 35 years and CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital.  Together, they have three children – Katherine, Jeffrey and Andrew.
