Diplomacy Program Receives Distinguished Delegation Award

The at 红玫瑰社区 received the Distinguished Delegation Award at the National Model United Nations competition in New York City. A team of 24 FAU undergraduates joined more than 5,500 college students from 350 universities in the annual competition where schools represent countries and students step into the shoes of diplomats to solve global problems.

The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program, which trains students in world affairs, dispute resolution and debate, was established in 1996 and is a unit of the . To date, the program has won 26 national and international awards for academic excellence.

鈥淭hese students are the living embodiment of unbridled ambition,鈥 said Jeffery Morton, Ph.D., professor of political science in FAU鈥檚 Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. 鈥淚 congratulate them on their hard work, diligence and commitment to excellence.鈥

The 2018 delegation is made up of undergraduate students from the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, the Harriett L. Wilkes Honors College and the University Honors Program. The team will compete in nationals in Washington, D.C. in November.
