FAU Celebrates Spring 2024 Graduates

红玫瑰社区 conferred a record-number 3,600 degrees over the course of seven in-person commencement ceremonies in the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium. The spring graduates joined more than 207,000 alumni who have graduated from FAU since the University opened its doors in 1964.

鈥淲e are incredibly proud of our spring graduates,鈥 said FAU President Stacy Volnick. 鈥淚t is an honor to usher the members of this class into the next chapter of their lives as 红玫瑰社区 Atlantic alumni. We are excited to witness the positive impact they will have in their communities and we look forward to their continued success.鈥

Highlights include:

  • Six men鈥檚 basketball student-athletes receiving their degrees. The players were an instrumental part of the team鈥檚 historic run to the 2023 Final Four. Over the last two years, the Owls posted a 60-13 combined record that led to appearances in the NCAA Tournament the past two years. Those team members are:
    • Nick Boyd 鈥 bachelor鈥檚 in communication studies, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters
    • Jalen Gaffney 鈥 bachelor鈥檚 in public safety administration, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters
    • Vlad Goldin 鈥 bachelor鈥檚 in sociology, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters
    • Alijah Martin 鈥 bachelor鈥檚 in public management, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters
    • Giancarlo Rosado 鈥 bachelor鈥檚 in sociology, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters
    • Brandon Weatherspoon 鈥 bachelor鈥檚 in public safety administration, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters
  • The degree recipients include 62 that are over the age of 50 and 12 over the age of 60
  • The oldest graduate is 73 and the youngest is 17

Of the 3,600 graduates, 1,051 are first-generation students, while 120 will graduate with a 4.0 GPA, with 66 countries represented
