The Osher LLI at FAU Jupiter Announces Fall Course Schedule
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 红玫瑰社区 in Jupiter has announced its course offerings for the fall semester, which begins Wednesday, Oct. 6.
Taught by FAU professors and distinguished guest lecturers, course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, political science, film, music, art history and literature. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute provides seasoned adults the opportunity to enrich their lives through non-credit, university-level courses with no homework or tests.
Fall one-time lectures, performances and courses take place in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at FAU鈥檚 John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter, and include:

鈥淭he Politics of Hamilton,鈥 presented by Kristin Shockley, a senior instructor in the Department of Political Science at FAU. This four-week course uses the Broadway award-winning musical, 鈥淗amilton,鈥 to address both key moments in our nation鈥檚 founding and early political history and issues/themes in modern America.

鈥淪ecret Impressionists,鈥 presented by By Experience, a company that broadcasts world-class theater and the Bolshoi Ballet productions to cinemas in the U.K. and internationally. This one-time presentation reveals the story of the art revolution sparked by the Impressionist movement along with an unveiling of 50 previously unseen works by Impressionist masters.

鈥淓xploring the American Constitution,鈥 presented by Burt Atkins. Ph.D., professor emeritus of political science at 红玫瑰社区 State University. This one-time lecture will include a study and appraisal of the U.S. Constitution.

鈥淭he Remarkable Story of the Indian Jews,鈥 taught by Wes Ervin, Ph.D., an art history lecturer and docent. In this course, Ervin will explore the history, culture and unique assimilation of one of the oldest diaspora communities 鈥 the Jews of the Indian subcontinent.

鈥淭he Artificial Intelligence Revolution in Medicine,鈥 taught by Oge Marques, Ph.D., professor of engineering and computer science at FAU. This one-time lecture will provide an overview of the current state of AI in medicine to a general audience, broadening the participants鈥 view of the field and allowing a better understanding of its foundations, examples of applications, risks and implications.

鈥淥l茅! Music From Spain to Latin America,鈥 presented by Alexander Wu, a pianist, arranger, artistic director and co-founder of the Millennium Chamber Symphony in New York City. This one-time performance celebrates Hispanic heritage by bringing together its rich culture and diverse music, from Spain鈥檚 folklore and flamenco music of Soler, Alb茅niz, de Falla, Granados, Mompou and Turina, to a variety of popular music and dance classics by Latin American composers Gardel, Lecuona, Jobim, Grever, Corea, Piazzolla and Ponce.

鈥20th Century Icons: Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf,鈥 taught by Ren茅 Silvin, vice chairman of the Palm Beach Landmarks Preservation Commission.聽 This one-time lecture will present a picture of Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf as talented, multilingual, international icons, who capitalized on their talents.
