FAU Named 'Voter-Friendly Campus'

õ is one of 83 campuses nationwide to be designated as a “Voter-Friendly Campus.” The initiative, led by national nonpartisan organizations Campus Vote Project (CVP) and Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education (NASPA), evaluated schools based on their effort to engage student voters leading up to the 2016 general election.

Campuses were evaluated on their ability to write a campus plan about how they would engage voters; how well they facilitated the plan; and on a written final analysis of their efforts.

FAU hosted multiple watch parties for the U.S. presidential and vice presidential debates in 2016. Through a collaborative effort with , the and , the final party in FAU Stadium drew a crowd of 1,000 students to watch Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton debate live on the stadium’s Jumbotron.

“Our motto here at FAU is that we are all about the students,” said Ashley Williams, assistant director for . “It is a privilege to engage our students to become active citizens on campus and in their communities throughout the democratic process.”

In addition to the watch parties, FAU also hosted several “Get Out the Vote” activities, including “Vision.Voice.Vote.” At this event, students learned more about the importance of voting and discussed their vision for an ideal world.
